The 34th Departmental Research Conference
April 22, 2017 (Sat.) Chihiro Nakayama, Ph.D. Course Students
At the conference, 13 Ph.D. course students delivered presentations, including the incoming department members who had joined in April 2017: Dr. Norihiro Yoshimoto and Dr. Wang Yunan, both of whom entered the Hokkaido University Graduate School, and Dr. Masae Takeda, who entered the master’s course.
Team Natsuga presented on epidermal homeostasis, micro-wound healing and keratinocytes in epidermal bullosa. Team Ujiie’s presentations were on the immune mechanism of mainly T cells relating to the pathogenesis of bullous pemphigoid. Team Iwata delivered presentations on mucous pemphigoid antibodies.
Team Nomura spoke on elucidating the mechanism behind revertant mosaicism in utosomal recessive ichthyoses, hereditary keratodermas and DNA replication.
Team Fujita’s presentations focused on the analysis of revertant mosaicism in epidermolysis bullosa, a novel treatment using iPS-cell-derived mesenchymal stem or stromal cells from human keratinocytes and the development of a gene therapy using the CRISPR/ Cas9 system.Team Yanagi presented research on Drp1, a molecule associated with mitochondrial mitosis in dermal carcinogenesis.
The discussions after each prese ntation were very lively. All the department members shared their experiences and problems regarding all their research. It was a meaningful experience for everyone.
