Team Ujiie, Team Nomura, Team Natsuga, Team Iwata and
Team Yanagi. Each team has a team leader who is a senior
associate professor, an associate professor or an assistant
professor. Each team specializes in certain areas and includes Ph.D. course students and technicians. Some teams also have postdoctoral researchers and graduate
students from overseas. The members have devoted themselves
to their research, realizing 120% of their potential.
Dr. Hata, who has excelled as the leader of the Skin Surgery Team, has been cooperating with Team Yanagi to research of tumors.
2nd Dermatology Laboratories
(on the 3rd floor of the South Research Building)
In 2017, Dr. Zheng Miao and Dr. Wang Yunan, from China,
joined the department and commenced research as a specially
invited assistant professor from overseas and a PH.D.
course student, respectivelly. All the members report their
research achievement by e-mail periodically to their team
leader and me. The reports are called Weekly Reports and
Monthly Reports. By visualizing the research status of each
graduate student, we can understand the status of each
research project and instruct those students. It helps the
individuals and the groups.
1st and 4th Dermatology Laboratories
(on the 7th floor of the Medical and Dental Building)
In FY2017, four female Ph.D. course students wrote excellent
dissertations. Dr. Ellen Toyonaga’s paper was accepted
by the JID (under the instruction of Dr. Nishie). Dr. Mika
Watanabe’s paper was accepted by eLife (under the
instruction of Dr. Natsuga). Dr. Inkin Ujiie’s paper was
accepted by the JDS (under the instruction of Dr. Fujita).
And Dr. Yuka Oguchi’s paper was accepted by the JID
(under the instruction of Dr. Nomura). All of these
authors delivered great presentations on their research and
earned their Ph.D.’s. Some of them had a hard time after
giving birth and caring for children, I think, but they strongly
made efforts and achieved great results.
I feel very grateful
for this.I hope that all the members will pursue research and that
even better results than last year will be successively
achieved in the Hokkaido University Department of
Dermatology in 2018.
