Hiroshi Shimizu graduated from Keio University School of Medicine (Tokyo, Japan) in 1979. He immediately joined the Department of Dermatology at KeioUniversity, where he worked for 20 years, until becoming professor and chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine (Sapporo, Japan). In 1987, after earning his Ph.D. from KeioUniversity, he spent 2.5 years as a research fellow at St. John's Institute of Dermatology (London, UK).
He is well known not only as the author of the monograph, Shimizu’s Textbook of Dermatology, but also as a successful skin scientist and a superb chief editor (J Dermatol Sci) and editorial board of a range of English medical journals. |
