The 4th Joint Meeting of Japanese Dermatological Association and
Australasian College of Dermatologists will be held in Sapporo, Japan, from the 10th to the 12th of July 2009.
We expect to have many participants from Japan, Australia,
New Zealand and throughout the world. The main theme of this meeting covers a broad range of current clinical and research topics in dermatology. We are putting together a program that we expect will be attractive for dermatologists, researchers and all other participants. It is a program that we hope will promote exciting exchanges and greater understanding in dermatology. In addition, we are planning to have social gatherings that will be valuable occasions to foster international friendships. Summer, especially July, is the best season in Hokkaido, which is in northern Japan. We hope you also enjoy Sapporo city during the meeting. I look forward to seeing you here soon.
The fourth meeting of the Japanese Dermatological Association and the Australasian College of Dermatologists in Sapporo, Japan continues a great tradition of joint meetings between these two national dermatological associations.
The first joint meeting occurred on the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland in 1995 and was a great success. It brought together experts from both Japan and Australia in a relaxed environment, and was to be the model for the subsequent meetings. This tradition was continued in Kyoto in 1999 when the convenors of the meeting enabled delegates from both Japan and Australia to experience a full and stimulating scientific program in the setting of historic Kyoto. Uluru (Ayres Rock) in Australia then provided the backdrop for the third joint meeting in 2003. A key component of this meeting was the focus on the basement membrane zone with many stimulating presentations, and with Professor John McGrath as the guest speaker from London.
We are indeed fortunate to have Professor McGrath again at this fourth meeting to supplement the Japanese, Australian, New Zealand and other international speakers. Sapporo will provide an excellent and relaxing venue for this meeting which promises to be both stimulating and relevant for the attending delegates. Special thanks must go to Professor Hiroshi Shimizu, the President, and Assistant Professor Akihiko Shibaki, the Secretary-General, as well as the two national organising committees, for putting together such a full and exciting program.
