Team Ujiie

Team Leader: Hideyuki Ujiie,
Associate Professor

Most of our team’s research focuses on elucidating the pathomechanisms of bullous pemphigoid (BP). In this, the main research themes address 1) the mechanism behind the loss of self-tolerance, 2) the role of eosinophils in the patho-genesis of BP and 3) the pathological significance of the IgE autoantibody. Theme #1 is the greatest and hardest issue. Dr. Ken Muramatsu and the other members have been carrying out research on this. BP is characterized by eosinophils and IgE. Themes #2 and #3 are issues we can’t avoid on the road to clarifying the pathomechanisms of BP. The research activities related to themes #2 and #3 are led by Dr. Takamasa Ito. I’m personally interested in research on gamma delta T cells. I’ll work hard to improve our research environment together with Ms. Keiko Abe, who joined the team as a lab tech in April 2016.
