Team Leader: Ken Natsuga,
Overview: Among the team members in the 3rd-floor labo-ratory, a small sub-group has been formed, consisting of Assistant Professor Natsuga, graduate students Mika Watanabe and Yu Fujimura, and lab tech Meari Yoshida. We’ve been conducting a few projects under the theme of “the biology of cells that constitute the epidermis and its appendages”.
My paper on the skin microbiota, which I started to write when I was researching abroad, was finally published. I realized it takes time to wrap up a project, regardless of its scale. I’d like to complete the projects I’ve been working on one by one. There’s one on plectin, another on antimicrobial peptides, another on Laminin, and yet another on hair.
The improvement I’ve seen in Drs. Watanabe and Fujimura, who are graduate students, has been remarkable. I’ve been inspired by them every day. Lab technician Meari Yoshida always sup-ports us in our work. I’m grateful for the support from Dr. Nishie and the other members of the 3rd-floor lab. We’ll work hard toward being able to contribute to medical progress this year, too.
