Team Leader: Riichiro Abe, Associate Professor
Last year, Dr. Yasuyuki Fujita obtained his Ph.D. In the past two year, he has worked patiently to complete the experiments that have given him the data he needed. After a few bumps and detours, his paper was published in PNAS.All’s well that ends well, I say. Dr. Inkin Hayashi joined the lab this year. Strongly wishing to do research in regenerative medicine, she started in this new field under the instruction of Dr. Fujita.
Dr. Daichi Hoshina’s theme of research is angiosarcoma. Despite the difficulty in making time for research from his tight schedule as a ward doctor, he has found the proliferation mechanism peculiar to angiosarcoma. He is just a few steps away from completing his research.Dr. Hiroo Hata, with his heavy duties on the surgery team, keeps studying the marker that relates to the malignancy of extramammary Paget disease. He has gained knowledge that can be used in clinical practice. Dr. Nao Saito’s theme is severe drug exanthema. She has had the experience of presenting orally at a conference and is working hard to elucidate the disease. Dr. Hongjiang Qiao started research on imaging, in addition to taking a part in the study of drug exanthema. I expect him to write many papers. Dr. Naoya Yoshioka is also investigating drug exanthema. In the fourth and last year in his graduate studies, he is working hard to wrap up his research.
Laboratory technician Ms Ayumi Moriya always supports the lab members. I am thankful to her for work that enables the lab to run smoothly.
In closing, I am writing this article a few days after the great earthquake in the Tohoku Region. I think researchers must seriously reconsider the meaning of their tasks and their responsibility in carrying out their duties.
